Default Looking For My Old Car - Don't Know Where To Start

My 15 year old son has his muscle car gene kicking in and it's certainly a great thing. We spend lots of time together in the garage doing light maintenance and talking cars. After lots of conversations about the muscle cars I had as a teenager, he is encouraging me to try to find my first car but I'm not sure where to start. Not just a similar make and model - we want to locate the exact car in whatever condition it may be in today, assuming it still exists.

More specifically, we are searching for a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 350. The car was a blue on blue four speed with a mild cam. Last seen with aluminum slot wheels. One of the ways I can identify the car is by the paint code on the firewall tag as SPECIAL and other identifying specifics. I sold the car in 1974 or 1975 and it was last known to be in Lancaster or York County, PA.

Where do I begin? Are there any south central Pennsylvania guys who might remember the car? We know its an incredible long shot but it would sure be a great father and son project for his first car. Hey, stranger things have happened! Thanks in advance for any advice. I can provide a few photos to anyone who might need them as I'm not sure how to post them here.
