Perhaps, some can shed some light on a problem I am having. The Muncie shifter in my 68 Camaro will not allow me (all of a sudden) not shift into reverse. It is like the gate (to move it to the left before shifting up) is not there.
Anything I should be looking for? Otherwise, it shifts 1-4 just fine. Thanks, Tim |

The reverse detent spring loaded button is likely the problem...
Theres an open spring that loads the shift lever to the 3-4 gate, you have to over come that spring to get to the 1-2 gate... Once into the 1-2 gate you have to over come the reverse button also... Or any number of things(broken reverse lever in shifter, dirt or debris, etc)... Hope this helps... Crash |

Also check to make sure you can shift the transmission into reverse manually using the lever only with the rod removed.
