Pretty sure I have one of the brown caps. It came on a transistor ignition set up I bought years ago for a 302.

Can't be THAT rare.

Unless I'm going blind, that cap looks black. Black D309 caps (copper terminals) without the R were produced from 1958 thru about 1964-65. Brown D309 (with or without the R) caps were from around 1965 until 1974. Black D309R caps with copper terminals were in production from around the middle of 1974 till the end of production.

I'm not gonna hit that buy-it-now button.....

We have three of the ZL1 distributors and caps and all three combined would not bring that kind of money!

Sellers often have parts that they always list. If they are out of stock, they just raise the price so it doesn't get bid on, and they don't have to delete the listing.
May be the case here.
