From my 29K original mile '69 Nova. Guess I should be thankful for the rest of the floors, but damn you wintery boots. Yet another reason why I hate the snow. Time to pull out the MIG...
![]() ![]() ![]() that's red oxide primer in the rear. The floors are surprisingly green, and a dark green at that (for a Frost Green car).... ![]() I think I've been watching too many crime shows on ID. I couldn't help but think of an abduction of some poor girl scout.... Hope that wasn't the case. ![]() This car was always garaged, I believe. Despite other car rust issues, the bolts remain rust free. ![]() |

Very common issue with Novas...especially if they have the rubber floor covering. They were very prone to water leaks in that area and the moisture would collect under the mat....the wet boots may have contributed...but I would check for water leaks while you are in the process...lower corner of windshield area was common spot...get out the hose!
The color of your floors looks just like our 31k mile 69 granny. If that is the worst of any rust issues you are doing fine. wilma

Sadly Wilma, it's not the worst of my rust. Typical rust in the lower quarters/outer wheel well, lower door rust (although I'm not sure how bad/deep it is), and typical lower fender rust. Despite being such a low mile car and being garaged, it's from Wisconsin, so it was driven in bad conditions and then stored in what I suspect was a fairly humid climate.
But, I can't really complain. The interior is in great condition, everything "works", and it runs fairly well. After fixing the floor, next thing I have to do is pull the head and check the gasket. I have low compression in the 3rd & 4th cylinders, and it's killing my gas mileage!! I would also like to thank Shaun Price and Dennis for helping me get this car back on the road after so many years. Thanks guys! |
