That's a good looking car. I like it just the way it is.

RS cars have the extra hole in the firewall for the vacuum hoses as well as the vacuum reservoir and it looks like the washer bottle is in the correct location for an RS car. 03C trim tag date is right around the change from a 302 emblems to the Z28 emblems. 4 leaf spring rear, 4 speed z bar, 15 inch wheels all point that direction. GOOD looking car

At this point we are talking about a non original engine and undocumented Z28. Remember auctions charge 8-10% and up to $1,500.00 entry fee, plus shipping, travel, room and board etc. If your doing this to make money, the math is not in your favor.

If your restoring it to have fun with and getting most of your investment back is the objective then you' should be OK. If by chance you knock the ball out of the park.....we'll that's great, but I wouldn't expect to on this particular car.

Is it worth $9,500.00 the way it sits.....I think that is a no brainer, if the metal is solid.

The deluxe steering wheel not having an SS emblem if original is a clue. The rear spoiler was added if the rear antenea is stock.

I didnt get to see the supposed original transmission. It is in the shop and no one was able to come open it this evening. I did tell her that everything really points to this being a real z. Mentiined that it might be a good idea to restore it herself as she has no actual $ in it.

Like Stefano pointed out, not sure if it is worth it for a frame off after spending 9500 on it.

She is apparently about to lose her home and said make her an offer. Its certainly not something I have dreamed of. Ill sleep on it and think about if I want to tackle it.

Thanks for the advice guys.......

Fwiw, Casey wanted to give her 5500 for it.

Mecum sold one of the best 68 Zs in Harrisburg this year. It had a ton of options, superb documentation, and low mileage sold for $105,000. Also a British racing green car. It was the exception. A non number matching car done well tops out around $55,000. I have seen several in the $25,000 to $50,000 range. The USUAL dealers are pricing them at $65,000 to $80,000. Those guys have been advertising there cars for a while.

Still was not able to get under it (I am too fat! ) to get the axle numbers. Maybe Casey was not too far off then.

Another possibility is to just drop an engine in it, clean it up and as Don said, dive it like it as is. Pretty cool ol' car sorta thing.

The tank does look like it has never been off the car and the hose that connects the neck to the filler tube still has the pyramid clamps on them. Still the same as the 69 NOR cars where it is rare to find a broadcast or build sheet on top the tank I assume?

That would be your best action if you want it to make money. Get it running, drive it for a while and let it go when you want to

I would scoop that car up in a heartbeat for $9,500. Nice car.

If you pass on it, either Matt or I will be down there with a trailer tomorrow! I don't understand why you are still debating buying these cars....
