Default 1969 L-78 carb???

supposed to be a 69 L-78 carb...
but it has a 4 digit holey code??
weren't all 69 codes three digit??

any ideas?

It means you have to call me and get the right one That is a julian date with a 3 digit day of the year and a one digit year,the production 69 4346s had a one digit year,one digit month,and one digit week. That carb you have is Jan 4 1979[best guess] it could also mean Jan 4 1989, the julian date system doesnt tell you what decade ...

so when was the carb in the pic actually made??

the nova is an 03e of 69 date
can you dig around and locate one for me?

The #4346 was originally used on ALL 1969 Solid liftered-(Special Hi-Perf engined)-Chevrolet vehicles.
I think beginning January 1st 1973,Holley began the 4 digit date code.
The one in your pic is 004-which stands for the 4th day of the year..obviously thats January month,and the 9 is either 1979,89 or 99,as Holley re-released this carb. recently to meet the demand for the restoration industry.
As stated,this is a later issued service carburetor to replace the assembly line issued carburetor with the same part number.
