Police cars again !!! Real police cars have a 140 certified speedo!! I know the 68 thru 72's have them. My 70 and 71 both have 140 's the 70 with special gauges in the cluster replacing the clock, Water temp, Amps and Oil pressure, The 71 these same gauges are in a housing under the dash. Police cars were COPO orders as they were unique the branch of service required. Mine have neat options and deletes and colors!! More info if needed.

Jim [/ QUOTE ] Hi Jim: You may have 70 amd 71's but you are not correct for 68. I don't know about the rest of the years. I parted four 68 factory police cars over the years and know of a couple of others. Of six cars two had the guage package and two the 140.Both with the 140 didnot have the guage package but I have seen a few examples of that combination also.It was not standard in 1968 for sure for all police cars to have a 140 or guages. Here is probally the rarest 68 police car ever produced a factory COPO 427 425 HP with a M22, F41 and 12 bolt posi. We had the twin of this car in our home town. It had quite a reputation and this picture is of the second one we have ever run across. As you can see guages but only 120.I have pictures also of a 396 car with a 140 and no guages. Have to like the mouse and the sun glasses. This sucker on the highway would chase down just about any muscle car out there in the day.396 and 427 oval ports were in the police packages common and all auto's. A square port 427 with a 4spd very rare. ![]() |

![]() Any more you can lay on us on these?!. My '67 RCMP Biscayne Ghost Car has the original 140 Speedo.. Just a stock suffix L35 396/M40 Auto but has 'RED TAG RCMP' on the Cowl Tag...best of all it's a 2Dr. Post!. I'd expect the Dodge in Belair's post was a Coronet or other midsize?. Dodge/Plymouth had a whole range of Police units available w/ unique Vin prefixes, body styles and engine options but didn't offer 426 Hemis in the full size line.. ~ Pete |

-------I wonder how many swear words were uttered as they were trying to chase down some miscreant while trying to row the Muncie shifter thru the gears??? Wonder also how many times those troopers got the trans stuck in two gears at the same time??? There are probably serial speeders out there that never got caught, dont you think???.......Bill S
