Hi guy doing a little reserch on a BB I picked up. The casting # 3955272. The date code is I-26-8 which I read as Sept 26 1968??? It is a 4 bolt main and has the big plug above the oil filter housing. My question is, is this a block for a 1969 modle year car? Next question is what are these worth. I've seen some pepole asking what seems to be a lot of cash for just a block. This is a complete short block that dose need to be gone though. Spins freely but sat for some time with no heads on it so the deck has alittle surface rust. I've included a few pictures let me know if I missed anything like it's a small block morron

Rick,
That is a `69 big block. I've also seen big numbers being asked for these blocks, but it also depends on the casting date to determine the value, at least to some potential buyers. I'd imagine your complete short block should be worth about $1500, possibly more, but that also depends if it's standard bore, what the crank looks like, etc. |

Post the numbers off the front pad...maybe it belongs to someones car here. It should have a build date, suffix and a partial VIN.

Where are the #'s on the crank, it looks like a steel GM crank. Also how do you tell what rods are in it?? Dave, as for the #'s on the pad the block has been decked at some point in it's life so the #'s are gone ![]()
