No D80 on the trim tag of an 02D car. that didn't show up on the tags until later. The car could have the D80 option, but it would not be on the trim tag.

Could be, but I would tend not to be so possitive due to the other facts that we have discovered.

I believe that use of D80 on the trim tags has been pinned down with'in a week or two.

Stefano is correct. We know within a couple of weeks when this practice started. The ONLY folks out there who believe an 02D tag &quot;could&quot; have a D80 designation imprinted are the poor suckers (along with the friends of those poor suckers) who unwittingly bought a car with a fake trim tag and are still holding out hope that just <span style="font-weight: bold">maybe</span> there were one or two of the earler cars that just happened to get a D80 imprint by some wild coincidence. What &quot;other facts&quot; have been discovered that would indicate a Feb. car getting a D80 imprint on the trim tag? Normally, those kinds of &quot;facts&quot; are nothing more than statements from some guy who says he has been in the hobby for 35 plus years and he has seen many early such examples. Fake tags have been around for over 24 years, and fake stamps even longer.

If the story will make all the difference, then spill-it on your next post. I personally think you don't want a previous owner to contradict the story.
