I have seen another one of those the same color at Famoso Drag Strip several times. Special paint code on the tag and owner said the color was original. Claimed it was Mopar Plum Crazy.

You could order a car in any color, even colors from other manufacturers, if you went through channels and paid for it. There have been some very interesting cars found in recent years, thanks to the web, that 20 years ago people would have laughed at and said the owner was making up stories.
1970 W-30 in Plum Crazy 1969 Cutlass in a 1957 Ford color 1972 Trans Am in black Would be interesting to see the documentation for this Nova. He has the dashes for the paint code, but we would need the paperwork to show it was truly "Plum Purple" (or whatever color it actually is).
