That Stinks...I'm glad I've had the pleasure to meet and talk with him at York, another legend lost. RIP Bud.

Re: Bud Faubel, "The Honker" passes
Wow!!! That is sad. I saw Bud at Manheim Auto Auction as recently as this past summer looking at cars (you do know he was a dealer). I would always start shooting the breeze and start bench racing and WARN him that I would tell everyone at the auction who he REALLY WAS!!! Only the racers knew his history. Sad to see another legend leave us.

Re: Bud Faubel, "The Honker" passes
One of my racing friends posted his passing on Facebook. Bud was a class act. I worked at Beaver Springs Dragway for 16 years and we hosted Flashback Friday and the York US 30 Race I had the pleasure several times to escort him in one of our family GTO's. Don Fezel had the Hemi Honker there and let Bud drive it, and I mean really drive it. Bud reved the car to the sky and launched the car so hard the rear window trim blew off the car. It was great to see the man run the car the way he used to. Bud ran the Hemi Honker just down the road at Cramer 522, an eight mile track. My father saw him race there. Last I knew Bud still had his pilots license, he flew commercial loads. Over the years we have driven Ronnie Sox, Don Nickelson, the Grump and Bud, our pioneers that have passed. I have a really good picture of Bud in the passenger seat of my Fathers 64 GTO convertible that he signed for me. These men are our national treasures and they are leaving us quietly. Lets not them go without the praise they deserve.
