Note the open "4" in the Tonawanda stamp assembly date? I have a Corvette Tonawanda stamp the same day with the same open "4" and I've never seen another. Now one shows up on a Camaro engine built the same day in the same plant, May 24th, 1967.
I have a 0524 as well,same plant,open 4. ![]()

![]() Well time permitted me to pick up the two engines and haul home for rebuilding so what happened to "The Great Caswell" L-88 block.......upon inspection it appears that #1 rod had a bolt loosen then split in half causing the rod cap to bang around and exit the side of the oil pan, here's what's left of the bearing.... ![]() And damage the #2 piston boss as shown....other than that it has true L-88 internals, 7115 crank, 8911 cam, dimple rods, correct push rods, all with very little use. ![]() Here's the original L-78 coming out of the evapo rust, getting ready to turn it over and soak the remainder. ![]() Trans will be gone thru as well. ![]() Original manifolds look to have been removed soon after new, still factory paint on the upper edge. ![]() ![]() That's all for now, will be taking both to Mark Jones this weekend for rebuild.

I was doing a search for Nobu’s Dyno-Tune and came across this thread.
Wow! I grew up less than 2 miles from where this car was! I had a 67 Marina Blue RS SS350 from ‘82-‘94 and probably drove past Drexel Ave, up and down Fairfax Ave, 100’s of times! ...wish I knew it was there all those years!! |
