So I did the square footage, ceiling height, etc in a couple of lighting estimators online a while back and they estimated I needed between 30 and 36, 5000 lumin lights. I decided to put in 3 circuits of 3 outlets in the center of the main bay so a total of 9 which I can run 4 lights easily from each equaling the 36 required. I hung six of the lights to assist in my work schedule as once dark I was on portable lighting to do any work after sundown.
I believe if I put up all 36 lights I am going to be doing the a clark griswold when he turns on the exterior christmas lights on christmas vacation movie. Blinding and the local power company calling immmediately afterwards. Is this others experience as well?? here are a couple pics. It was pitch black outside when these were taken. |

Cool beans Bill. My experience..........you-----can-----not----have----too----much-----lighting! When you put stuff in there, it will absorb light and create shadows. Placement of the lighting is critical to minimize shadowing which is a pain to work in.

The lights are 4' LED, motorola brand, I believe it was 4700 lumins each. you can link them together for longer lengths.
Yes, 6" 3600psi concrete. I have not decided what to do with floor yet, what are you thinking? Because of the size, everything I see is quite expensive. I can tile or carpet it for the price of epoxy coatings and such from what I see so far. lol.. |

Just a suggestion but I've been using Racedeck flow-thru tiles for years now. I've done a couple garage's in these 12" snap in tiles and people always comment how much they like the designs and how nice they are to walk on. Usually I add a two tone colored border and/or a inlaid design or two using silver, graphite and black tiles but these come in multiple colors. They run about $2.50 a square foot and are easy to pattern, design and install on any floor. Amazon has free shipping on these for Prime members or Race Deck ships direct from Utah at reasonable rates.

I have looked at epoxy but now just considering a dye in the concrete with a sealer applied. Looking at options next week.
I’m curious how much power you have in your garages in terms of amps? Also do you heat and cool, if so any suggestions on systems? |

You can do radiant in the slab if you haven't poured it yet - it is a beautiful heat that you feel through your whole body and you can run it with a gas on demand water heater if you have natural gas in the street or use propane.
