You're exactly right and looks like the 396 added to a SB car.
Here's a few Fred Goeske pics w/ both his Chevy also Dodge Haulers before his rocket car years.
First two are w/ the Chevy Hauler and balance appear to be the Dodge which sold on eBay a few years back.

Pat Foster's Red Mickey Thompson Mach 1 Funny, one of two John Buttera built incl. Danny Ongais' Blue car.
First pic is earlier, sadly this Red car was later destroyed in the fatal Gerry Schwartz NHRA Dallas '69 accident.

The Truck sports a Fronty Head motor too but SOHC also modified chassis w/ Touring body cab.
