Default '64 GTO Straight Axle Street Freak, 389-6bbl/4-sp

I had assumed this was a recent build, but the age on the front springs, and the period 8-track player and gauges inside make me believe it was converted decades ago. Reminds me a ton of my straight axle '66 Chevy II.

The front wheels kinda do it a disservice - need some 3.5" Cragars or chrome steelies.

Can't say I've ever seen woodgrain trim used in an engine compartment.

I know the car....the car and owner live in my town. Yes, the car is old school. It was done and built in the 80’s. He has a few different sets of wheels that he usually changes out on the car.
The car always gets great looks. I have many pictures of the car.

Dan

What's with the pics in a cemetery ??? eeww..

I like the newer spoke front wheels, it's the blue brake drums that need to hide behind black paint and blend in better.
Interesting bridge on the front axle, that to prevent bending on a hard landing ?
Dan, any racing history with the car ?

Convenient. That's where you end up when you try to drive a straight axle car fast.
