Yes, the Z28 did get the 403 bell for 10.5 clutch and shorter fork.
Are you keeping the bearing centered on the fork ends, or pushing all the way back ? It needs to be balanced on the ends and the spring holds it there until the trans is installed and it rides on the input collar.
