Looks like a clean California car here - would be a lot of fun to swap in a big-inch mill and maintain the low-key look.
Interesting that a '71 model car would have CA black plates. Might have been plated in a small town where they took longer to deplete their plate inventory (typically '69 would have been the last year for black plates). Have to ask...what is the purpose of that huge horizontal gash in the firewall above the master cylinder? Link to 1971 Duster auction ![]() ![]() ![]() VL29C1E116469 |

Not being a Mopar guy...I don't understand the yellow color in the trunk, under the hood, and on the door hinges

The car was likely originally yellow. I am willing to bet that there is a lot of hidden and repair rot based on what I can see in the fenders, rear tail panel and around the deck lid to quarter seal area. Too bad as this really could be a nice project car unless its a mess under that paint.

Looks like it was EL5 code Butterscotch originally. That massive gash in the firewall is...weird. Fire behind the instrument panel at some point?

Coast car, they rust from the top down and inside out. You're right, Rick, the whole back half of this car is a mess, either from rust and/or collision. On the flip side, the undercarriage looks great... ![]()
