----My 1948 Jeepster with the 4-cyl L-head engine has basicly the same electric overdrive trans setup (Borg-Warner). Only difference is a switch under the throttle pedal that activates the standard gear when in overdrive. The overdrive could be activated in any gear. My Dad traded a Maytag washer and dryer for it in 1955 he was (among other things) the Maytag man. I learned to drive in this powerhouse (maximum speed of around 40-45 downhill) when I was twelve. Very few popo's around our area back then. He gave it to me on my fortieth birthday. I suspect he did it to me to get even for the way I tormented the poor jeep until I got something a bit faster.....Bill S
