Default Pavilions Rock N Roll Car Show December 14, 2024

I had to leave early today for a Christmas party, so I did not shoot too much. But next week, I'll be able to stay all day!

First, I'm posting a flyer distributed today outlining some significant changes.

This has been rumored to come for months, now it looks like it's finally coming. So far, I haven't met anyone happy about it.

The landlord no longer wishes to fund the show and hired Arizona Events Group for three months. AEG has three months to figure out how to make money running the show while effectively addressing the shenanigans that happen around closing time. After three months, AEG will either be ejected (if not successful) or allowed to continue on with no payment from the landlord.

I have been told we can continue to arrive early and, if we leave before 4:00, we will pay nothing. As always, spectators can enter for free.

Local social media is blowing up over this. We'll have to see if they change their course.

In the meantime, here are the few I shot.

That's all for tonight. I have no reason yet to leave early next week, but we'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

Thanks Rick ... awesome photos ... sure hope the "membership" $$ doesn't drive folks away.

I'm having a hard time envisioning how AEG can fairly and equitably enforce that all car exhibitors have paid their monthly 'membership' fee. There are many entry/exit points to the parking lot where the cars are exhibited, so how they plan to maintain control over all of those - while still allowing the general public access to the businesses that operate in the shopping center - will be interesting to see.

If the event was funded free by the landlord, I suppose you can’t complain. A business can. Thanks for the cool pics.

Nice pics again Rick. I missed you yesterday but I hope your Christmas party was fun. I talked a bit with the owner of the 421 Car. It was restored 15 years ago in Montana. It looked like it was just finished a few days ago, beautiful car. I also saw Larry Christensen out with his amazing unrestoed 69 Ralley Green Yenko. I hope one day he brings out his early 69 Z that he restored.
I hope the new entry fee policy does not turn people away, nothing is ever easy anymore.

The ‘manager’ says they have all of that figured out. Not sure they were prepared for the monumental pushback they are currently receiving. And no one is excited to see a BMX demonstration.

I’ll be there all day 12/21. Every year, the Derelicts cover several tables with munchies, cookies, cake, and other Christmas stuff. Don’t forget to grab something.

We’ll see about that fee. So far, to avoid it, arrive early and leave before 4.
