Default Dist Cap ID ????

What is correct DELCO Distrib Cap for 1970 Z28 ???

I have this with Delco - Remy R & PATENT 2769047

AND I also have a similar Black Cap with NO LETTERS/NUMBERS

The 1970 Z/28 would have had the "Delco Remy" "Patent Pending" R distributor cap from the factory. The "Patent" 2769047 and the cap without letters would be a service replacement cap.

mhm1966, So my above pictured cap is NOT Assy Line Correct !!!!!!!!!!!

and there was Two different service replacement caps ?? One like above
and 2nd .........without any writing ???????

Chuck, the cap you have in the picture is not assembly line correct for a 1970 Z/28. The cap is a later style replacement cap that was used in 1973 production. They made several different versions of this cap. The one you have 2769047 with aluminum contacts, 2769047 R both with aluminum and copper contacts, and some had other letters like T and BH on top of the cap.

early and late "patent pending" caps.
Pic 1 is earlier type. No "R"
Pic 2 is later type with "R".
They are saying you need bottom type.

Interested to learn what/where is your source of info so as the Camaro Nat'l Judges
will "Believe"

What 1970 GM V-8 engines during what months received which cap ???

and 1971 etc etc...........

Did the " PATENT 2769047 R " not start until 1973 ??? and all 70-72 received
the PATENT PENDING.......

Ive asked Charley Lillard to get a picture of the assy line cap on his former LOW
milage 70 Z............

----Part number 19719244 in a GM restoration box with just Delco-Remy and patent pending would be for what years and vehicle???....Bill S

"Patent Pending" cap is for 1968 and earlier for all GM models.
