MC....I know Pontiac Historical Services can document a Pontiac and send you a build sheet copy and even make a reproduction window sticker etc....Don't think we will ever get to that point with Chevrolet vehicles although it would be nice

There may be hope. There are discussions going on now between Chevy execs and an outside party to see how feasible it would be to do the same thing with Chevy records that is done by Pontiac Historical. This word came to me this week from a source very close to this process.
It may not happen, but sounds like it is potentially closer than ever before. Keep your fingers crossed. |

I have never pulled a build sheet from a Yenko or COPO yet. I have found one the tank of a LA Z/28. I had a 307 car that had it, but they are rare. Best of luck though. I have seen them from a Yenko Chevelle...BKH

REDZ, don't get your hopes up as this story has been going around for years. The truth is there are not any records for the Camaro or Corvette prior to 1976 to be found. According to Arthur Armstrong, former GM Legal Staff employee and Chevrolet Engineer, in 1995 he and another guy were told to search anywhere and everywhere for the Corvette and Camaro build records. They were not able to find any records other than about 2-1/2 years worth of production records for the Corvette back to 1976 and which Chevrolet already had these back to about 1978. There were not any Camaro production records or body/chassis broadcast sheets found. Arthur Armstrong wrote an article telling about this either in the Corvette Restorer or Corvette/Chevy hiperformance magazine about 3 or 4 years ago describing in further detail about this same matter. Maybe someone here has that article they can share. Most Camaro's and Chevelle's from 1970 and up have a build sheet in them somewhere, but the 69 and earlier models are not normally found.......RatPack................

We've had both of our '69 Baltimore built Chevelles apart and there were no build sheets in them unless they are buried inside the seats themselves. I have copies of COPO build sheets so some existed some where in some of the cars. I have half of a build sheet that was buried in the springs of the rear seat back. It was for a Chevelle about 75 before ours. Go figure. I've posted the VIN from time to time but no one has the car I guess.
