Tim, Do you have the dealership emblem for the rear. It is in the shape of a fish. The locals called them Prout Trouts. We are looking for one...BKH

I am led to believe there were more than three sold at Prout. They did quite a bit of advetising in the local paper about the "New 427 Camaros".Another local dealer,Ed Stinn, sold quite a few also.I have ads from more then one local paper showing the 427 Camaros and Chevelles in July of 1969........

The late June/early July order of 9561/9737 cars that Prout received was supposedly in the neighborhood of 10-12 cars according to a couple of salesmen that Doug and I talked to. As Steve noted, the cars were advertised locally along with COPO Chevelles and other high performance Chevrolets.
The majority (if not all) of the cars were no radio/four speed cars... Different colors... At least one of Lemans blue, Daytona yellow, and Olympic gold. I've also heard that one of the former salesmen drove a black one although I don't know if this was a demo or his personal car. There was a Butternut yellow 9561/9737 Prout car that sold much earlier than this... March or April if I remember correctly. I don't recall if this car had the D80 option or not. Ed Stinn also seemed to do pretty well with the COPO cars. They were right up the road from Prout... About ten miles or so wasn't it Steve? Regards, Stan Falenski |

The yellow '69 Copo Camaro that I posted pics of last year or so on this site was from Huebner Chevrolet in Carrolton Ohio. By the way the car is still sitting in the same spot untouched and probably will be forever.
Doc Dixon who was the unbeatable S/S NHRA champ in the '70's with a '69 Camaro was also from Carrolton. Dave [Edited by whitetop (05-02-2002 at 08:23 AM).] |

What is Carrolton close to? Do you recall the X-code, body or vin # for this COPO? |

Stan, ten miles is about right.Do you know who the black car was sold to? I do know of one in the area that a teacher once had.The new owners name I can't quite remember, but have talked to him in the last year.He is not familiar with the selling dealer, from what I recall. The car has been in the Prout area it's whole life.

I will try to repost the pics. Carrolton is in Southeast Ohio about 1/2 from the Ohio River The '69 is still owned by the original owner and has '75 or '76 license plates on it. About 75-80% original paint. Has headers, slot mags etc, SW tach & gauges. Typical period piece. Original engine etc still in the car. His wife was a school teacher and used to drive it to school. About 3 miles down the road from this car was a original Yenko Camaro that sold for $3500 back about8-9 years ago. The guy that bought it resold it for about 20K I believe. A member on this site has the car and is in Chicago I believe. As soon as I dig out he pics I can email them to you. How do you post on this site now? I used to use photopoint. Do you still need a hosting service? Dave |

The black car is a 06A X44 car,has D80,but not on the tag.The Butternut car is a 03B X44, no D80 on tag (early)but has a spoiler. Both cars are 9737.The Butternut car is radio delete, black car has center fuel....I can't find the name on the black car.......I know the yellow one was "Hermans" car.I have spoken with him (present owner) over the winter and can't remember his name.Shame on me!
