Mike, I am not sure if that Monte was in Auto Restorer or not but it was featured in Chevy High Performance about 7 years ago, somewhere I have the issue. It was built by Bruce H. of Bloomington, MN and was a VERY extensive conversion using a convertible frame and ALL the Chevelle convertible bracings. It cost Bruce over $20,000 to build not including his time and was sold to a broker last fall.

Wow, the 67 Yenko almost got as much as a ZL1? What's the story with the ZL1? I thought it would've brought at least $150K if the Yenko got $110K. Was it matching #'s and documented?

I was surprised by the 160K selling price of the LS6 Chevelle rag top. I would have guessed more like 120K. Is it true that the car was owned by Craig Jackson of Barrett Jackson? Did they give the boss's car some extra pumping up beyond their normal pumping? 150K restoration? Great place to sell a car but some of the buyers got hammered.

ZL1 was at Russo Steele which was a little softer. I also thought the car would pull $125+. Also the fact it was a green auto probably didn't help. IMO it would have brought more at Barrett. Russo Steele was a great auction and they are really trying to do it right. High quality cars and treated everyone very well. Free shipping included with the purchase. Food every night ( of which Charley definitely took advantage)!!

It was quite amusing to watch. They even brought in celebrity pumpers. They would stop the auction then Reggie Jackson, Phil Hill, Parnelli Jones, or other race car drivers/celebrity would pump up a car that they drove some time during their careers. They even had drag racer Joe Amoto come up and pump one of his old Top Fuel show cars. Barrett Jackson sure knows how to milk the bidders. Do they give free drinks to perspective high bidders?

Craig must have run out of celebrities when it came time to pump the LS-6 because he asked me, an old country redneck boy with no public-speaking ability, to tell the audience what a great car it was. Just goes to show you, they'll try ANYTHING to pump up the price.

JOEC the bar is open all day for registered bidders. How else could you explain a guy spending $102k on a '56 Bird?? And you should see the lovely ladies pouring the drinks!! Right Charley??
