My car(69 Yenko Camaro) has a 293 B-R and I'm pretty sure it's the original.
Hope this helps. Later, Chris |

You might be onto something with the two coil numbers. The Chevelle mentioned above was also an automatic car with the 429B-R coil. Anyone know why the coils would be different? The coil that I have is the 293B-R and the car is a 4 speed.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now. ![]() |

My car is also a 4 speed. I should've said that earlier.

I have my doubts on the #429 coil being correct for a COPO Chevelle. The restored COPO Chevelle chassis article Keith mentions did show a 429 B-R coil but they just restored what they found on the car and assumed it was original because the car was low miles original condition. They did a nice job on the resto but there were other parts on that chassis that I don't think were original. I would think that the COPO Chevelle would use same coil as 375hp cars but I am not 100 percent sure.
There are two members here who own low mile original Yenko Chevelles. Both Le Mans blue, one auto in MO., one 4sp.in MN. If they read this or if someone has contact with them maybe the coil numbers in these cars can be checked? I would like to know the answer as well as a few others here. |

Though certainly not gospel, anyone who has the Sun Service sheets also lists the coils on them. I believe the Mpls Yenko has the 293 coil but I am going by memory. Chad and I discussed this very thing when the car was first purchased but it's all a blur now. I also do not believe there is any difference to transmissions denoting which coil. At least I have not seen this on any documents.
Hey, I hit my magical post number today. Better stop here!
