Mark. This car was last owned by Larry Ingrim in Ottawa. He was very particular about this car. I can't believe he sold it as it now looks like it is in NY. I never seen it but it was suppose to be numbers matching and in good shape. He is the one responsible for making up the "Recommended Oil Change" stickers because at the time no-one was making them. I may call him tonight.

Pete, This is 100% the car Mario at Early Bird's had for sale. I have a printout of the GM documentation and I personally inspected this vehicle. I have numerous digital pictures & notes on this vehicle from my inspection. The motor is a 512 block out of a 1968 Corvette. The only M22 peices that where with the car at the time where M22 guts with a rebuild kit. The rear end in the vehicle at the time of my inspection was a "BR" 3.07 Posi. What was funny about the car was a lot of surface rust on the underside of the roof as well as heavy pitting around the windshield & back glass openings. This is usually due to glass leaks, however the dash panel (where the bottom of the windshield) seals was mint! I was unable to get up under the dash to see if it had been replaced. Note - this is also coded for endura, rallyes & radio delete!

COPO Pete & Mark,
Seems that you have quite a bit of info on the car between you. I am curious as to where all the numbers matching parts showed up from? The current 512 engine has a Jan 30 1969 casting date and proper pad date and code per the sellers info. The rear BE housing and trans are also correct dated and coded as are the distributor, carb, water pump and even most of the hose clamps. |

Pete, the owners name on the GM documentation says "Early Bird's". Mr Rudow is also aware of the vehicle. Hope this helps.

So, does this car have the "original" VIN matching engine in it? They sure have it advertised as if it does. Just because the block is "correct" doesn't make it "original". Does anyone know?

Sounds like Mark has inspected this car very well and nothing matches! It is very easy to restamp all the important items. I think what you have is a real copo with non original parts! Still has good value but without matching numbers takes some of that value away.

Does it have the correct rearend also?
If all the numbers are correct, how would you prove it not to be original? |

Current Seller/Bought it from 'Early Birds' as it sits today.(?)
They have a correct stamped and dated rear which is not on the COPO now. None of the internal components are original COPO parts. (standard 4 series posi unit). The Chain of ownership can help document or authenticate certain components. It is fairly unlikly that the original motor would suddenly appear unscathed after 30 plus years, but at least it is dated correctly. I think that the documented options make this a very unique COPO. |

The engine has the correct vin stamped in the proper location. Correct Broach marks are also on the pad.
The vin is also on the trans and it is also coded correctly. I have not seen the COPO and the numbers and description were provided by the seller. Is the previous owner (non dealer) a list member? Was the car register on the site as numbers matching or has it turned up this way only recently? |
