I was told some car alarms were going off along the trip! It must have been 12-15 miles each way, with many suprised lookers on the way. Open headers do have a way of numbing your senses after a few minutes, but we survived. I think we had four towns Police looking after us. I should have taken a beer, cuz I knew I was safe, otherwise, if I tried it in my home town I would be busted for everything in the book. No exhaust, unneccesary acceleration, reckless driving, no license plate, no registration etc., etc., etc.

I thought it was like having a time machine take you back to a era where the impossible still happened. When have you ever seen a ZL-1,Harrell Camaro,a Few Yenkos,COPOs,and a few drag cars on a strech of road at the same time? It's one thing to look at these cars but to see them in street action is another. Thanks!

I wasn't paying attention on the way to the Car Lot. I got lost on the way home and ended up in East St. Louis

I was hoping to go to Granite City that afternoon, but did not have time. This is where Dick Harrell opened his first shop, before moving to Kansas City in early 1968. It was on the road that the St. Louis International Raceways Park was on, or close. Anyone have any idea of the location, or perhaps, any old photos? This is the area close to East St. Louis.

68 Top Stock....
Thanks to you and Hoss for the cruise nite ride !!!! It was great. Open headers, slicks, a police escort and a full moon to boot.
It was 34 years ago when I rode in Hoss with Herb down the Fountain Green Blacktop, only this time, I got to sit up front !!!
Thanks again.
DH

68 COPO II:

Glad to share some "seat" time, always like having someone with "shotgun". Next time you get the pilots seat.
