Default Alabama - no Titles in 1967?

I am pursuing a 67 Z-28 that was originally sold new in Alabama and now resides in Georgia. The current owner does not have a title for the car since it was sold new in Alabama and they didn't have titles back then. He says that cars like these use the bill of sale and tag receipt only in Georgia. I spoke with the original owner of the car tonight and he confirmed that the car did not have a title when he owned it. Anyone know anything about this subject? How does some one get a title when they transfer the car to another State? Thanks in advance,

He is right about Alabama not having titles for cars that old, we did not start that until 1975 but I believe he is wrong about Georgia, I think they title all years of cars. I can get A copy of A document issued by our courthouses to aid in the sale of cars without titles (it basically says we don't title cars older than 1975). PM me and I might be able to do some leg work for you.If you purchase the car all you need is the bill of sale and A tag reciept if he has one and your state will register the car with no problems. I will get that document to help if you need me to.

Mark, All you will have from Georgia on a car that old is a transferable registeration. Are you going to import it into Canada? If so going thru US customs vinny program you have no worries. Just make sure it passes the vinny program before you buy or make that a condition to buy. Thanks

GA does not issue titles on older cars unless you turn in an old title when bringing it into the state. Transferable registration or bill of sale is all that is needed to register it here.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the information. Things are handled much differently up here and I want to get all of the paper work right before the car hits the border (if it hits the border) and is scrutinized by Customs Canada.
