I bought a rolling Z/28 shell with a crossram even after some very intelligent people told me it was not a good idea. The car has no front end sheet metal, dash carrier asm, windsheild wiper or washer. Is there any way to tell if a car is an original rally sport? The rear valance panel has the reverse light holes but I was told that the car was going to be converted to a R/S and the square hole that the light fits into does not look like a factory cut. But there is always a possibility that the panel was replaced in the past and this was cut in at a body shop. It seems to me that towards the end of when GM had sheet metal being sold through the dealers, they superseded the part to a non R/S panal. Are there additional holes stamped in the firewall that would give me a clue?

68-69 Rally Sports used a vacuum system to work the headlamp doors. If its a real RS, the headlamp switch should still have the provisions for the vacuum lines.

The car has no front sheet metal. There is only the front subframe that is forward of the firewall.

Look in the trunk near where you put the bumber bolts through the rear body pannel and on the trunk floor will be a small hole in the same place on each side of the floor, thats where the wires come through for the back up lights. Also there is a hole in the firewall next to the master cylinder for the vacume lines to come through,I think its one inch across and its between the fender and the master if I remember correctly.

The car does not have a dash carrier. Because of this it has no gauges or switches.

Allcamaro's advice is dead on. Look for the holes and let us know.

I do not see these holes on the firewall or the trunk floor. On the firewall I found two vertical holes close to the fuse box plug and a threaded hole to the left of the brake master cylinder. Thank you for your help. I hated the thought that I would finish the car and I went the wrong direction. It will be nice when its done after a whole bunch of money is spent on it and its better now because I prefer the regular front end.
