Default Day 2 Modifications.

Hey Guys,

I am going to start "day 2-ing" my 1970 Camaro. I just purchased 15x7 Keystone Classics with big BFG T/A's. Also, Headman Headers are in the mail. I did a search for some "day 2" pictures but I was not to impressed with the results. I was hoping maybe we could put together some pictures of the ultimate "day 2" cars. Don't hate me because I want pictures!

PS - Where can I find some vintage decals for the car?

I really feel dumb here? Does Day 2-ing mean that old school retro look?

Dan don't take this in the wrong way but you have already made the wrong choice in a "day 2" modification on your car. Radial tires defeat the whole concept and don't look right IMO especially if they are a modern white lettered design like the BFG TA's. Go with vintage repop M/T's, Pro Trac's, or even Goodyears. They can be bought through Summitt racing for the M/T or Coker for the Pro Tracs. All that BS about them having a crappy ride is not true. I have been driving with the M/T's on back and Wide Ovals on front for thousands of miles and they are fine. If you are going to do it do it right. Just my humble opinion. Well yes - the way I look at it as Day 1 - the car is brand new and then the next day (Day 2) - you add the after market goodies of that time period - rims, gauges, tires, valve covers and the like.

Thanks. That's kind of my plans for my 67 RS.

I need some period bias-ply tires though. However, I do already have glasspacks.

Better listen to Frank Magallon. Nylon bias tires. L/60 15's on the back, skinnies on the front. 15/8in. rims (if they fit) 15/4's on the front is what I run. Lakewood bars, after market fan, aftermarket tach, headers and maybe temp, oil, and amp gauges under the dash. Decals on the 1/4 windows if you have the nerve. Mostly all these products can be changed in a weekend to put your car back to stock. Lets appoint Heavy Chevy president of the DAY-2 club. How about it Frank? Hooker just rereleased the 4 into one chrome headers and side pipes for your car. Very common mod back in the '70's. I personally would of ran a 15x8 on the rear but that is owner preference of course. Early style lakewood traction bars with the long tail are regulary on ebay for your car.
