Sounds like a Thirsty Whale act. This place was a venue in the suburbs that catered to local bands as well as national acts. Toward the end of the run for this club nearly every band that played there had Z's or X's in the their names.
Footnote: Great hot dog place next door. Gene's and Jude's!  Belair and SSL78 know what I am talking about.
