Default 69 Corvette 427 engine on E-Bay

I saw this today, and was wondering why there would be no bids on it.

We are considering buying it to put in the 69 Camaro Clone that we bought and listed last week....remember the one that ended up having a 454 instead???

Any thoughts?

Well, it seems like a NOS L88 for $5K would be alot more bang for the buck in my opinion. Those don't look like a rect. port head(840) by looking at the front of them.

You're right....I just checked the casting number....it's a 454 block.
Another scam.

LM suffix is for a 69-427 390hp corvette which is correct.

That is a correct number for a 427 as well. Here's an excerpt from www.mortec.com

3963512....427.......69......2 or 4 bolt
3963512....454.......70-76...2 or 4 bolt

It is definitely a 427 but a 390 would be a oval port 2 bolt main. Go with the L88 for $1000 more.

I looked it up and saw it was an oval port, and I thought it was also a 2-bolt, but didn't want to say for fear of showing my ignorance!!!

He claims it's a 4-bolt, and I know some 4-bolts were made with this casting number, but I wasn't sure.

Like I said above, we are considering trying to find a 69-427 to put in the Yenko replica we have to get it as close to the original as possible....and this engine just isn't the one, right?

I would say pass on that one. You are better off trying to find a 427/454 CE block with a 69 or later date in my opinion.

Ask to see a picture of the left rear of the block ( just
above the oil filter mounting area ). If this a true 4-bolt
main block, there will be a three hole pattern with a large
NPT plug in the center location. The left most hole will be
for the oil sending unit location. I'd be concended if you
can't see that location. This can be faked, but most times
is not.
