You have said it very well, its a very personal thing and especially when there may be death involved.

One can almost assume the frustration we have by not being able to get these "Not For Sale" Cars may actually be twice as frustrating to the owner who can not or does not know how to let go. does anyone have a direct line to Doctor Phil?? he would be great to drag along on some of these seek and find missions!

My Chevelle has been in storage for the past seventeen years. Sometimes kept at my parent's house or at my house. Last summer, I took it out of the garage and took this picture of it. It is started once a month. I purchased the car in 1988 from the second owner and he had it in storage since 1981! Through the years, numerous people have knocked on my front door and have offered me money for my car. Last summer. I ran into a childhood friend who I hadn't seen since high school. He began telling me that there was a 1972 Chevelle Super Sport in a garage on a certain block in our neighborhood and that he's going to knock on the door to see if he can buy it. The car that he was speaking about was mine. I never thought that my Chevelle would have been in storage for this long. Having relationships, getting married, kids and overall no time for anything caused this. My three year old son recently discovered what is in the garage, so it is time to finish the car. He loves the Chevelle. I would like to think that it will be his car someday.

Let's be honest all us collectors are a little nutty. The ones that let the cars sit outside are just nuttier than those of us who let them sit in the garage. At least we aren't those people that have 50 cats in the house.

For some reason people are more in awe of such things then the ones that they see every weekend at the local cruise or show. The Mystique.

I've owned my Maco for almost 8 years now and sometimes it sits for years in the garage (work or different focus). I hear stories about it every now then, sit & listen and then finally say... "That's my car".

There is a guy not far from where I live who has a -64 galaxie. The story about the car is that it was used as a "roadrace" track car in it´s early years, with a glassfibre frontend. It´s got a 427 tag and thin framerails. Many parts are missing.

I have a friend (70 yrs old) that has some great cars. They have been sitting(inside)for 20-30 years. He says he's going to get to them one day. The funny thing is that if he didn't work on them when he was 50 or 60 what are the chances that he will work on them at 70?? One day he said to me "I've read stories about old guys that have cars that they will never sell, I guess I'm one of those guys". The bad part is that when he's gone somebody that doesn't care at all about the cars will decide what happens to them.
