To guesstimate a cars value from a picture or pictures on the internet is difficult enough, to do it with no pictures at all is just about impossible IMO...

Without the factory motor/trans its not a Z28 - just another modified 68 Camaro.

A car is only worth what a potential buyer will pay you on any given day.

I beg to differ, a Z28 is still a Z28, even if it doesnt have the original engine, as it was a specific Camaro model, not just an engine/trans option. Not worth nearly as much, but you can't say its no longer a Z28 simply because the driveline is no longer original. While i won't make any guesses on its value without so much as a photo to go on, you can;t say its not a Z.

Actually Z/28 was not a model, it was an option or so I've been led to believe anyway.

RPO Z28 was a performance option, all it got you was a 302/290HP engine in a coupe. Everything else (4 speed muncie, 12 bolt axle, power disc brakes, 15" wheels etc were mandatory and extra priced options.

So technically a Z28 without a 302 is not a Z28 anymore, but I doubt anyone will be selling one for the price of a rolling body anytime soon.

So every car on the Yenko or ZL-1 list without it's original drivetrain should no longer be considered as such ??

Sounds like it wasn't actually a 68Z if it had the wrong motor and trans, was just another modified 68 Camaro.
GOTCHA!!!!
