I know the feeling George. This summer I drove my '62 '09 to my old high school friend's house for his dad's 80th birthday party. That car hadn't been in that driveway in 35 years, but when all the relatives and other old high school friends came over, they recognized the car, and knew I was there. They just stood around shaking their heads..... It was a time warp. Wish I was preserved as well as the car is.

Verne
PS: never put a sound system in that car. Always preferred to listen to the engine.

You guys are old By the mid-late '80's the top name in car audio was ALPINE, went with the shaft model first, then upgraded to the DIN mount CD version, a few amps, Boston Acoustic speakers, etc... hmmm... (where did my money go? )

When I was using my Z for a high school daily driver. I had an Alpine stereo in it. I remember it well cause the cassettes always got stuck and wouldn't eject. I kept a tiny seafood fork in the console to eject them.

You guys are old

How is this for old: Do any of you guys remember "Mind Blower" speakers? I bought mine at K-Mart along with a Pioneer SuperTuner AM/FM 8 track. These speakers were 6x9 and each one had a big amp hanging from it. There was a base boost controller that you mounted by the driver somewhere. I had a set and put them in old speaker enclosures and set them in the back of a 64 Corvette coupe. I'm pretty sure the guy I sold the car to 10 years ago still has them in there!

1st system was a Pioneer big round dial underdash Supertuner w/cassette(cost me $20 at a X-mas drive at school for raffle tickets),Kraco 5-band equalizer,Jensen 6X9 triaxials. That system went thru Quite a few vehicles. Then was sold to my brothers girl friend at the time for $125. 2nd system was a Pioneer KE-5100 in dash Supertuner with a 7-band booster equalizer, cant remember the brand,Jensen triaxial II 6X9's,2 supertweeters,2 tweeter horns. That system was in a 72 Grandville 2dr Brougham. At the time 81-82 it would rock. I can also remember the Reverb on a 67 GP conv my dad had.Wow was that something to hear!

I can't take credit but a local Corvette guy, Chris Jensen, still has the 4-track Muntz (that's right 4, not 8) that the tape cartridge that looked like an 8 track sat exposed on top of the unit. He bought it at the PX in the USArmy in 1962 and I saw it as a kid in his '64 Corvette. I never have seen another. Yup, he still has it.
