Steved, Do you have the May 1969 article on the same Firebird when they converted it to SS/J?? That is where the pictures I posted over in the Royal thread came from. Can send if you would like.

Yes, I definitely need and would like to see all of that article. I'll try to find a copy on Ebay later, but would very much like to see it now.

Here are scans of Jack's June 69 Super Stock. The first magazine in this thread was covered at a dragstipr in Alexandria VA according to the article, Jack's June 69 is without a doubt in Miami. Some one pointed this out in the Royal thread, the car has recieved a new lettering and sticker layout in these later pictures. Most unfortunate we don't know when the cars were actually at the tracks from the articles, I'm trying to put together a timeline for this car.

Now this July Drag Racing is an interesting article.
This would be the apparent second trip to Miami for this car in the first half of 1969, in the trip prior to this the car still supported the 350 according to the article. From the photos you can see the very obvious difference of a 400 hood and a few different aftermarket stickers. And then the biggest thing you can see about this car in Miami; is the V motor is actually in the car while there. This is the only set of pictures I have seen where you can visually see the V motor in one of the cars at Miami in 1969. The only thing I can say about this, is there must have been more than one trip to Miami in 1969 to cover all the accounting of a V motor tested there in early 1969. Hopefully Milt's book will fill in some of the holes in history. ![]() ![]() Full Cover Full Index Page 52 Page 53 Page 54 ![]() |
