I have an SSRS 396 less engine and trans. It has disc brakes, 12bolt re, 3/8 fuel line and BBC motor mounts along with a BBC Heater box. I dont know which motor came with the car. It looks bone stock. Can anyone tell me what #s on the axle would tell me what engine came with the car? And if I put in a L-89 motor with the right dates if that would help or hurt the value of the car?

Axle code (http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#RearAxleNumbers) will tell you some, but axle usage was not application specific.
