This kind of thing is wrong, dont know if it's legal or not but still wrong to us who put so much into getting our cars and ectect..There's already enough fake cars out there..There's another seller on ebay selling fake documents that they try to make look old..Bad for the hobby i say..

It's absolutely illegal. It's a felony at the Federal as well as state level. A good law enforcement officer will wait til the bozo who buys it, rivets it onto a car. Then they can sieze the entire car instead of just the vin tags, and charge both the buyer and the seller.

Seller is Tony from Long Island. Deals mostly in Pontiac parts. Last fall he bought a clapped out Camaro on ebay and tried to sell it a few weeks later with an "authentic big block" trim tag. The pictures were still available for the old auction. Ebay ended up pulling his auction. It is also my opinion that he uses shill bidders.
Great guy, and really good for the hobby, huh? Lynn |

I heard that it was only Illegal if and when you used the Vin plate on another car, what if you just bought it to frame or something.Personally I think it should be illegal to sell a Vin plate PERIOD!Of course you know this car is going to POP UP in the Future!

Noticed that he's also doing the same with a 61 Impala, and a 69 400 Firebird...
Saved the pics from the bird's auction though, as you can make out the body number! |

![]() Let me make this a little more clearer from my years of knowledge of Federal law: IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A VIN TAG THAT IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE CAR IT ORIGINALLY CAME ON. No need for discussion or opinions: that is the state of the law as of yesterday, today and most probably for the rest of eternity. ![]() |

Sorry njsteve I should have been "a little more clearer"
as means has ebay changed the rules, and are now allowing the selling of tag's ? I thought they pulled them, as soon as they are listed. Would this not make ebay legally responsible "No need for discussion or opinions" |
