Default LS6 Fuel Pump

I just bought a new AC Delco fuel pump for my LS6 Chevelle , part # is 6470424, it doesn't have that deep of a fuel bowl, did I get the correct one?

It depends. That's an AC #40727 pump, and early built LS-6's did receive them.
To be certain, look in box #33 if you have your buildsheet.
If it shows #768,short for AC #40768,then it received the higher volume GM #6470307 fuel pump instead.
If you don't have a buildsheet, tell me which month and asssembly plant your Chevelle was built at.

Mr70, my car was built the 3rd week of January 1970 at the Baltimore plant. Do I have the right pump?

If I'm mistaken, there are different fuel lines according to which pump, also? Seems like I remember getting mismatched parts when doing my LS6...

Yes there is. The 40727 used the single inlet feed line and the 40768 used an additional return line to the tank requiring different fuel line clips and fuel sending unit.

Also if your early built,(#727 pump equipped),1970 vehicle was sold brand new in the state of Calif. & certain parts of Nevada and Montana,it too received an additional return line on that #727 shallow pump.

Mr 70, Could you include your thoughts on 1970 L-78 Camaro fuel pumps , the earliest example of which is my own 01C Norwood.

Thanks,
