Don, since Nurse sold it to you, why not shoot me the Vin of the Caprice as we may be able to find something on it that leads to the Chevelle Vin? ~ Pete [/ QUOTE ] PM sent Andy

Guys, GM Dealers don't keep old records otherwise they'd need barns to keep the paperwork. They don't even copy them to fiche or scans. They only go back a few years. I went through this in the early 80's about my car. The best bet is to have an old insurance paper from your wallet from that time or some other insurance papers and then go to the DMV and run the history of owners to see if it's still licenced. I did this for my 77 Z/28 and 70-71 Z/28's.
Good Luck. If you find the Chevelle, you should buy her back.

A friend just got 12+ boxes of original sales invoices from a dealership! Pulled out the hi-perf and/or interesting ones, and chucked the rest. Some small dealers stashed the paperwork, especially if they only sold a few thousand cars a year - it doesn't take up too much room

When my uncle bought his Chevrolet Olds dealership in the early 60's my dad "helped" him haul 2 dump truck loads of paperwork and manuals to the dump. And these were guys who already were restoring V8 Fords.... Couple of MENSA's
