Re: Bruce Willis suing musclecar dealer in NJ
The fact is that I would never buy a car for anywhere near that money without an inspection. If I werent confident in what I was looking at I would call a pro to look at it for me.
The fact is that he overpaid for this car from the get go.You could have bought 2 of the nicest 67 GTO convertables in the world for what he paid for this car.His complaint isnt that he had to spend 3 grand on the car,it is that he had to spend 3 grand on the car just to make it worth about 15 grand.A frame off restoration including a bare metal sheet metal redo might have revealed that this car was a total loss since it might have needed in excess of 100K in restoration just to be a true museum price, and even after that the car would be hard pressed to be worth 70 grand.Lets face it,very few Pontiacs draw money anywhere near that big and those that do usually have the words Super Duty or Ram Air IV in their description or a production volume that measures in single digits, and in either case the car might still need to have very low documented milage and be a true puseum piece.
The fact is that a good number of cars that dealerships sell are on consignment.A few years back I brought my low milage 71 Vette to "Wheels of Time"and they offered to sell it on consigment.I was hard up for cash and told them that I was willing to sell this car which was worth about 15 grand at the time for 9 grand because I wanted money now. They told me they could sell if for 15 grand but wouldnt give me more then 12 grand for it,and I had the leave the car there with them to sell with no promises of getting anything for it and no use of the car.I drove out of there and put the car in the want ad for 12 grand and got 10 grand from the first guy who came and looked at it.We were both happy.
