Love the look of the '67's
up high - Cragers all around - huge tires sticking out the back!

Those are three very cool cars.

The 1967 Camaro in the pics was one of the Original "Nickey" Camaros built as a dedicated Drag car, by Dick Harrell himself, when he was working with Nickey Chevrolet.

Mike Garfinkel stopped by the Fall 2007 Chevy Vette Fest to visit with us. He had some very interesting stories about Dick and the Nickey Camaros and actually helped place an accurate time line when Dick Left Nickey to Team up with Don Yenko.

There is also another "Nickey" Camaro which was built by Dick Harrell and Guy Tipton at Nickey, as a dedicated race car/Super Stock.

It was the same color, same wheel combo, same engine set up, same special race only traction bars, same stinger style glass hood without the pointed Stinger under the Scoop. ect ect.

There is a picture of all three players at Nickey Chevrolet in Chicago inbetween two street versions of the Nickey Camaros with Bill Hielscher, Mike Garfinkel and Dick Harrell. Hielscher's Camaro was called Mr. Bardahl II.

That's Cool...... Guy Tipton from Texas, an associate of Bill Hielscher and Dick Harrell, was put on the Nickey payroll to help Dick build some of the race cars including the two Super Stock Camaros discussed above.

Awesome article.
Do you know what issue of "Drag Strip" it's out of?
And do know of any vintage video dealers that might
have footage of any of these cars?Or any other Dick
Harrell or Yenko cars?
