Default '71 LT-1 'Vette

I'm trying to find misc. part/casting #'s for these cars; block casting, heads, carb/smog etc. I've done some web searching and didn't come up with much.

The car I'm looking at is a; 4sp(M21), special order axle, pw, AM/FM, PS and PB. It does have a tank sticker.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Wow, that was quick, thanks Gary. Did the LT-1's have unitized ignition in '71? Flex fan or clutch fan? The car I'm looking at looks like it should have a smog pump, is this correct?

Again, thanks for any help with the questions.

Mike

Mike,

The '71 LT-1's came with a magnetic pulse transistorized ignition system, this included a special TI coil, TI distributor, TI amplifier and special wire harness.
It does use a 5 blade fan with either a eaton or schwitzer fan clutch.
All LT-1's for '70, '71 & '72 came with A.I.R. emissions system, which included bracketry, air pump, diverter valve, manifold pipes & assorted hoses.

Thanks for the info, the air pump is missing but everything else looks to be there. I have to check on the TI and see if it still all there.
The tank sticker has all of the options and paint code on the car except it shows a black interior, the body tag shows tan leather which the car has...sticker looks legit. Could the tank sticker be wrong?

Sorry for the questions...I'm just trying to get educated in the 'Vette world.

Thanks,

Mike

Can you post a pic of the tank sticker?

Mike,

I see from your Corvette Order Copy sheet that you have a fairly early car. Unfortunately, your sheet is the same format as '68 thru '70 which doesn't include the partial VIN derivative. Later '71 Corvette Order Copy sheets can prove that the sheet is indeed the one for that particular car. The document could be for another car, there's just no way to prove it, one way or the other.
I would look closely at the trim tag and see if it appears to have been changed.

Do the hand written numbers on the build sheets sometimes match up w/ a job number that appeared on parts of the chassis or tub that showed as the car moved down the line but may be hidden now by interior or body parts?.

Best of luck w/ the car!.

I agree, the Order Copy sheet might be from another car...I'll try and post a pic of the trim tag. Funny thing, the car is built exactly like the OC sheet except for the interior color.

Thanks,

Mike
