Default spiral shocks for a 70Z28

This is a copy of my post on nasty Z28, but I thought I would put the word out here.
John

Hi all, I have a 70Z28, very correct and original. My left rear spiral shock went. I need to get a new pair. I am not finding them in any resto catalogs, can anyone steer my on where to get a correct set to keep my car oe rockin!
I also am going to replace my rear suspension shackles. The bushings are bad but I think I will replace with the full sets that are available, just to avoid any problems.
so I need advice on where to get correct 70 spiral shocks and if you think there is a reason not to replace the whole shackle with a kit.

thanks very much in advance.

John

Have you tried the camaro specialty restoration companies?
Like Rick's First Generation or Classic Industries. Maybe D&R Camaro in West Chicago, IL (not far from you!)

Tried most of the big ones, I'll try D&R. Everyone seems to have them for 1st gens.

Thanks.

John...my friend has a 69 Z28 and he tried the repop spiral shocks and said they really suck! He took them off the very next day....check in the back of Hemmings, I thought I read an add that someone rebuilds the orginals.

Thanks Randy, I wonder if the 70s are any better than the first gen repops? I might keep these in a box and put on some KYBs since i drive the thing like I stole it. I will check hemmings to see if there is indeed a rebuilder of the shocks.

appreciate the help,

JOHN

John,
The repop spirals look great for a trailer car,but if you drive your car i wouldn't purchase them.I tried them myself and didn't like them.Like Randy said, take a look in hemmings, there was someone who did rebuild original shocks.

I have a pair of 3188143's that are dated 2/70.
They are nowhere near show or driver quality,as they leak.
Can they be rebuilt?

My drivers side is leaking as well, that is why I am replacing them. My guys said you can't really rebuild them, but maybe someone else knows different.

thanks
JOHN
