Jerry,
The small block auto ( 4-speed, Powerglide & THM350 ) crossmember is the standard crossmember. You will know this one as it has a race track shaped hole on the underside where the bolts mount through ( into the trans mount ). The BB THM400 crossmember is of a tubular design ( totally unique ) and the BB 4-speed crossmember looks similar to the small block crossmember, however the trans mounting hole is more square-like with one corner having a protruding tab. Also, the upper passenger side portion of this same crossmember has a stamped in recess to clear the speedo cable assy. Hope that helps. Nuch
