Default 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T, Plum crazy 4 speed

Hi all, selling this for a good friend. I can tell you, I had this car in my facility for a year and have known it for many. If you know me, take my word, there is no need to inspect this car (but please feel free!).

No excuses car....period.

Here goes.

1971 Plum crazy 4 speed Challenger R/T.

36,280 original documented miles !!!

340-4bbl V-8 (base motor for these cars was a 383, a 340 was an option up)
A833 4-speed , with pistol grip shifter
8.75 Sure Grip with 3.91 gears
Plum Crazy with black vinyl bucket interior

Owner History: (from the seller)

Sold New in March 1971 in Fitc hb urg MA . At Twin City Dodge
First Owner’s Title (with same owner as listed on sales invoice) is from 5/20/74 with 22,700 miles in State of Massachusetts

First Owner files application to transfer title on 4/18/80 with 24,000 miles on car in Leominster , MA .

Second Owner’s Certificate of title is dated 9/12/81 with 26,328 miles on the car in Winchendon , MA

Owner Three purchased car on 12/6/89, and registered it in the State of Ohio on 5/3/90 with 27,400 miles on the car.

I purchased the vehicle in June of 1996 with approx 28,000 miles on the car and Titled it in the State of Illinois .

This car is unrestored. Has it's original born with driveline! and tons of paper.

Engine Rebuild in 2000 – cam, pistons, valves, heads polished and ported

Brake and Fuel Lines Replaced (SS)

Original Carter Thermoquad 625 cfm Carburator was Replaced with a Holley 750 cfm Dbl Pumper.

Original 11” drums – fronts were replaced with Stainless steel disc brakes

Distributor converted to electronic ignition

Third Owner – converted to power steering (I believe with a 1971 A Body steering pump)

*****Originally**** Longitudal Strip Delete, with Dog Dish Hubcaps and no console; the third owner had the car repainted (original FC7 Plum Crazy), added the stripe, a OEM Go Wing, and OEM 15” Rallye Wheels.

OEM Correct 1971 Console added

Thumbwheel AM/FM Music Master in vehicle; not connected to speakers; ***Original**** Radio was AM Music Master

The changes to this car were done with EXPENSIVE oem parts. The 15" rallye wheels, console and radio are sweet.

Documentation includes:

Original Sales Invoice from Dealership

Original Chrysler literature

Original Owners manual with salesman’s business card

Previous Owner’s Titles and registrations (documents the ultra low mileage)

Original Broadcast Sheet

Decoded by Galen Govier and placed in the Chrysler registry in June 1996

This car is THE car used for the Ertl Racing Champions DIECAST MODEL 1971 Challenger R/T. Designed from this car and has PLUMRT license plates – which have been registered to the current owner in Illinois for the life of the car.

In case you were not paying attention, this car in its born with configuration......is the ultimate sleeper.
No wing, stripe delete with dogdish hubcaps and no console.

Car runs and drives fantastic!

It pretty much has won best in its class at every Chicagoland Mopar Connection show it entered.

I am putting it here first.

Price $49k but will listen to reasonable offers.

Please PM me with your phone # if you wish to speak about the car.

Thanks,

JOHN

Here are some additional facts as well as pics. The pics include the only flaws I could find. a scratch, a blemish on the hood and a small dent on the decklid trim (which is original thus it was kept on the car)

Some important options on this car per the Broadcast sheet;

A31 high performance axel package.
3:91
8 3/4 sure grip
26 in HD radiator
7 blade fan
Rallye suspension

A62 Rallye instrument cluster (inc 150mph speedo)
J46 locking gas cap
M21 drip moldings
J45 Hood pins
J54 sport hood
N42 Chrome tips (these are the orginals)
V1X Vinyl roof-black
J25 3 speed wipers
