Default Re: wagonman

If I may politely add something-

While I think the car is beautiful, and kinda "get" the purpose of it since reading the HMM article, I'm a little confused here.

Building a super duper high quality forgery of anything is PROVACATIVE, regardless of your intentions. It's a bold and brash statement to show people that they cannot always believe their own eyes and judgement. You're seeming to seek a lot of validation for this exercise. I don't know if that's realistic. It's not likely to come for a while, if ever, since the overall acceptance of this car and this effort is still being digested by the hobby. If you built it and it has thus far accomplished your goals, that may have to be enough. Ultimately your message here isn't a hopeful one-its pointing out that no matter how well you know something, you can probably get screwed anyway. While true, you're not likely to get applauded for speaking the hard truth.

This board may not be the most receptive to the message of your car, because many members here have already experienced well done hoaxes. The problem is that they weren't learning exercises, they were attempts to fleece money from them. I don't think that anyone who's seriously pursued a real 435 Corvette or LS6 Chevelle is unaware of the tragic yet impressive near artistry of faked stamping pads or phony documentation.

Good luck to you.

TOM
