According to Hollander, El Camino and Station Wagon only interchange with each other. All other 64-65 Chevelle convertables use the following;

64, 65, 66 Chevelle convertable frames interchange with each other.

64-65-66 2 door sedan, 4 door sedan, 2 door hardtop and 66 4 door hardtop frames can be used but you would have to juggle transmission crossmembers. No doubt they are not boxed like convertables. No interchanges listed with Buick, Olds and Pontiac.

I'm thinking he wants the frame that has canvas stretched across it and is over his head, not under his feet.

I can't think of why BOP convertible frames wouldn't work also didn't all Olds 442's have the boxed convert. frames right from 64...or was this a later year thing?.
