Am no expert, but what I picked up from the smart guys around here:

The list you looked at was for '68 Yenko VIN list which were not ordered via COPO. They were converted to 427s by the dealer. There were no factory 427s for Camaros in 1968. The COPO for a factory installed 427 did not debut until the '69 model year.

When the smart guys wake up tomorrow you will get a definitive answer.
