When GM first released the block only is when I bought mine. It's # 16 I think I gave 4500 for mine then.

I would rather have your motor over the limited edition Zl-1 at any time. Nice carpet in your shop Albert, I have to walk around on bare concrete in my garage.

Al - that aluminum sure is pretty!

Hey Mark...I got some nice vintage orange shag carpet on my garage floor, even have the classic "shag rake" to make it look nice - HA!...people look at me like I'm a moron when I tell people I have to vacuum out my garage and rake the carpet...don't know why?

Oh - since this thread is about ZL-1 motors...I'm not a fan of the "new" ZL-1 engines...I like GM Performance Parts' write-up on the engine and state how this new ZL-1 is grossly underated at 430hp just like the original...hmmm

Here is one for 23K. Still seems pretty pricey.

On a whim, had my mechanic call his parts guy at the Chevy dealership to find out the scoop on the motors. Guy didn't know anything about them but put us on hold and came back with a part number. Said list price was $32,000, dealer cost $22,900, and that all 427 of them are gone. His dealership didn't get one but he named off several dealers in our area that have/had at least one of them. Time will tell where they end up I suspose.
