I think that IF there is a forum started for this type of thing, it should be an AUCTION forum. It should be for all auctions, not just Ebay. Or better yet, it should be for any item for sale that is not being sold by a member here wheather it be real or a scam.
Just my opinion.

I thought there was a forum for this its called Memorabilia & Parts For Sale???? I'm glad people are aware of the scams but I'm with Joe and Rick on this subject, there is no reasons to make a new forum for ebay... If you dont know post it either in the Lounge or Chevy Supercar & Musclecar Discussion and someone will answer your question.. Goat I think what your doing with the ebay scammers is great, I love to read your post on how you got another one to bite.. Mark

To Goat and everyone else that is sick of these ebay scammers... Why dont you creat a fake ebay account and call yourself SCAMBUSTA and when you see these items for sale just hit the buy it now price??? I cant see why the scammer will keep posting fake items when it cost him money everytime to list something on ebay.. Plus when the person tries to contact you just ignore them and not pay. By having a separate ebay account to mess over these people you dont take the risk of a negative feedback on your main ebay name... Just thought that this would be kinda funny to do..

The scammers don't use "BIN" in their auctions.
Instead, they include an email address and tell you to contact them with questions. The car is usually listed for a buck or two.

When you get the 1st email, they give you the "downpayment price" and tell you they'll ship when they receive it.
You just "apply the balance upon review and acceptance of the vehicle."

But the vehicle never arrives and you're out the downpayment.

I think everyone here "has the idea" about the latest way the scam scabs are approaching eBay. If there are any new angles I'll post them. otherwise, I'll only post the completed baits when they're done in case anyone needs a good laugh.

CamJoe - while you made many good points, some of your comments hurt my feelings terribly and I cried into my pillow. I threw my mask and cape into the trash and swore to never post any scam warnings ever again.

In return though, I'd like to say that while the classic car hobby is one of my favorite things in life (ranking just below the female anatomy), I try to look at every aspect of it - including the rip-offs, scams and price-gouging. These things are an unfortunate diversion from the hobby, but are real nonetheless. But in the end, the eBay Scam topic would have subsided, and another new topic would have become popular.

No need to accuse folks of 'trying to save the world'. Those of us who posted scams (and not every scam) were simply trying to discuss it.
FYI, there are still many guys on car lists questioning why they are being offered more than asking price on their for-sale cars by foreigners. They didn't know about the Nigerian bogus check scam.

So...
I'll conceed we posted alotta scam topics in here, but it didn't seem to be against the rules. I'da just clicked past the eBay topics if I wasn't interested.

Anyway, as I said, I'm done with posting eBay scams and will only post my completed baits.

Bottom line is to create a 'Sticky' in the Lounge for the Ebay stuff. Great idea Bob!

Many members are tired of sifting through auctions in the other sections.

I still say we need to scrap the idea of using an entire section of bandwidth for this "ebay scam" garbage. Why devote a whole new section to link auctions to cars everyone on this site already knew were scams? No one that frequents this website is gonna fall for these things anyhow. I've seen these other sites with a whole section of ebay ranting. If these folks think they are playing dectective and saving the day by showing us every ebay scam, then they become nearly as annoying as the scammers themselves. I agree with Frank, we don't need a link to every "Buy it Now" 5000.00 restored 69 Camaro, Nova, or Chevelle anyone finds on ebay. I don't think anyone on this board is "saved" by these posts, and as I said in an earlier post, the auctions are usually pulled before most site members even click on the link. Personally, I think if someone is dumb enough to think they can buy a Yenko Camaro by sending someone in some foreign country a deposit, and sitting on the dock to wait for their car to arrive, they deserve to lose their money. Someone said there are other sites with these forums on them, I say go post all this stuff on those sites. Let this site be used for the discussion of supercars.

I'm with CamaroJoe. Enough of the Ebay scam [censored]. Those of us who are Ebay-literate already know a scam when we see one. Everyone else doesn't even frequent Ebay or give a damn to. Personally I'd like to see a new SuperCar PHOTO ONLY section. Screw Ebay scams. People are stupid enough without putting a magnifying glass to it.
